The 16th annual Stride for Seniors 5k/10k is coming up on June 5, 2021! And, for the second year in a row, we’re offering a virtual option. Though we’re grateful to be able to meet in person again this year, the option to participate virtually was such a success in 2020 that we decided to offer it again. This option allows members of our community to participate in whatever way is best for them. And, this also means friends and family who live far away can participate! Michelle, the daughter of a late resident at the Health Center, is thrilled to join us all the way from California. Here’s what she had to share…

“My mom lived at the Walker Methodist Health Center for five years and always received excellent care. Everyone on the team was so beautiful and wonderful. Since my mom was so well taken care of, I still want to support Walker Methodist to honor my mom. The team is so wonderful, so I love to help any way I can.

Last year, I was so excited to hear the race was going virtual. I live in California, so this meant I could still participate. On race day, I put on my shirt, walked, and posted my photo. It was so heartwarming and fun. I didn’t expect to be able to participate, but it was lovely to be part of Walker Methodist from across the country.

When I saw the virtual option was available again this year, I was elated. I can’t wait to get out there on June 5 to honor my wonderful mother, as well as the amazing team members who took such good care of her.”

Whether you’re tuning in from another state or joining us at Lake Harriet, we can’t wait to stride for seniors together! If you haven’t registered yet, there’s still time. Visit https://www.walkermethodist.org/foundation/5k-run to sign up today. Plus, if you refer a friend and they list your name when you sign up, you’ll get an extra pair of FITSOK socks. See you there!
