Walker Methodist was awarded the 2022 Conservation Improvement Program Project of the Year Award from CenterPoint Energy. The Conservation Improvement Program (CIP) helps Minnesota households and businesses use electricity and natural gas more effectively to preserve energy by lowering carbon dioxide emissions and reducing the need for new utility infrastructure.

Walker Methodist’s largest apartment and health care complex houses up to 160 residents, who were experiencing uncomfortable temperatures, despite the high energy usage to try and cool and heat the building. Much of this was caused by older equipment that was beginning to age out.

Replacing the building’s legacy pneumatic controls with new, advanced Building Automation System (BAS) led to improved comfort for the residents living the Walker Methodist community, saved over $50,000 in annual gas savings, and earned Walker Methodist a $45,000 energy rebate.

Walker Methodist is a non-profit senior living company serving the health care and housing needs of older adults throughout Minnesota and throughout Wisconsin. With a mission to enhance the lives of older adults, Walker Methodist serves more than 3,000 seniors each year.
