Servant leadership Trait: Remembering details to make others feel valued
I’ve been working with seniors since I was a teenager. I began volunteering at my hometown’s senior community in eighth grade and fell in love with the residents and hearing their stories. Through that experience, I knew I had found my passion.
My past experience in resource development, community relations, fundraising––all serving older adults in some way––gives me a unique insight into the landscape of senior living. I joined the team at Place in 2021.
On a daily basis, I work directly with our directors to ensure processes and services are running efficiently. I lead our team so that our residents receive the best customer service and care possible. I’m known for following up with others, and I love remembering residents’ names and something about them. I want others to feel special when I talk with them, from team members to residents.
When I’m not at work, I enjoy spending time with my husband and two adult sons, reading with my book club, and baking.
I earned my associate's degree in gerontology and family services, as well as a bachelor’s degree in public relations.

Servant leadership trait: Making others feel valued by being trustworthy
My journey with Walker Methodist began in 1994, when I had a clinical rotation in physical therapy assistant (PTA) school. The next year, I joined the physical therapy team. Years later, I still love working with seniors.
Now, I serve as the resident services manager at Walker Place. On a daily basis, I help residents with non-medical issues, host family meetings, and act as a liaison between residents, team members, and outside care providers.
On my team, I’m known for being a reliable (and funny) person who does what I say I’ll do. When it comes to resident safety and quality customer service, I think critically to make the best possible decision for everyone. A sign in my office describes my approach: The most powerful leadership tool you have is your own personal example. I like knowing I make a difference in residents’ lives. Making our seniors feel special is what gets me up in the morning.
In my free time, I enjoy biking, camping, and spending time with my family. My wife, Theresa, and I have three children.
I earned my associate’s degree in physical therapy and my bachelor's degree in kinesiology. In 2004, I helped start Place’s fitness center.
Servant leadership trait: Motivation to help others learn and grow
I joined the team at Walker Methodist Place as fitness technician in spring of 2020. Previously, I worked at a rehab company, where I quickly recognized the important role physical fitness has for older adults living a full life and found my passion.
In college, I studied anatomy and physiology, thinking I’d work with athletes. Instead, I found myself helping people with preexisting health issues and discovering the best ways to improve the health of those with injuries and limitations. Before coming to Walker Methodist Place, I worked with the YWCA for more than 20 years. During this time, I ran my own training company and yoga business. Working for nonprofits allowed me to experience a variety of projects, trainings, seminars, and day-to-day operations. As a small business owner, I learned the necessity of customer service, time management, technology, and communication.
At Walker Methodist Place, I’ve produced on-demand fitness and wellness videos for members and residents to access any time. By overseeing the fitness center, I help ensure members are happy and things run smoothly. I also lead group exercises, personal training sessions, and provide education about using equipment. My goal is to help residents and members improve and maintain their health and independence. I believe the best thing I can offer is guidance and encouragement, and I’m enthusiastic about helping people feel confident and capable.
In my free time, I love spending time with family, gardening, being active, cooking and baking, photography, and playing board games.
I am a Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) and Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES) through the National Academy of Sport Medicine (NASM).
